In The Ghosts of Trianon (1988), C.A.E. Moberley and E.F. Jourdain relay a story from August 1901. Anne Moberly and Eleanor Jourdain from St. Hugh's College for Women at Oxford University were looking for Petit Trianon, Marie Antoinette's private chateau in the Palace of Versailles in Versailles, France. Both women would later say that while they were walking, they noticed a surprising lack of visitors and that they both felt very detached from the whole experience. The noticed two gardeners dressed in period clothing that motioned them on towards the home. They met a few other characters in old-style outfits, and Anne Moberly saw a woman sitting in the grass, wearing period clothes, sketching; Eleanor Jourdain said she did not see the woman when they talked later. When they were in front of the home, the disinterest that held them both suddenly lifted and they were standing with a crowd of normally dressed visitors.
The two believed the home was haunted and went to researching. They found that on August 10, 1792, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were being held at the chateau awaiting trial, and when Anne Moberly saw a picture of Marie Antoinette, she swore it was the woman she had seen in the garden.
In an article on http://www.about.com on Paranormal Phenomenon, titled Bizarre Slips in Time, Stephen Wagner relates a story of Glenn, a young college student in Nova Scotia. When he was on a bus traveling to his parent’s house in 1991, he was overcome by a strange feeling as he watched the Michelin tire factory pass by. He had the distinct impression that everyone on the bus was laughing at him, then suddenly the bus was a mile back on the road and he was traveling towards the factory again.
In Timeslips and Terrors (2005), Laura Wright details a true account of a man who, while driving on Sam’s Gap in Virginia, ran into a town where he found himself in the 1950s. Suddenly, he was in his car again, driving in the present time. Another interesting book is Adventures in Time: Encounters With the Past by Andrew MacKenzie (1997).
