The 14-room was built in the 1890s by Billy Strain and was a popular stop for both guests traveling by train and for salesmen. Guests could even rent a horse and carriage at the stables that once stood beside the Hotel. The dead end road the house sits on was once a main route, but after the railroad tracks were moved, the Hotel fell through the cracks of time. The Broyles Family bought it in 1921 and turned it into a house, having to remodel the old site extensively. Most recently, Ron and Dorothy Blevins own the Hotel and have restored it to its original splendor. They report, however, that the Hotels history seems to be alive and well and still in their house. An apparition of a misty lady often appears in the living room, as well as a man in a top hat and coat tales in the house. Otherworldly noises sound throughout the night and pictures are moved about on their own. 1
