Georgia Avenue Bridge

Georgia Avenue Bridge in Bristol, Tennessee is allegedly the sight of two ghostly sightings.
Folklore maintains that Georgia Avenue Bridge was the site of a tragic death, one that seems to have left a pitiful soul to continue to seek the infant that she lost. In his book Ghosts of Bristol: Haunting Tales from the Twin Cities, author V. N. “Bud” Phillips recounts the tragic story. A mother with her baby was driving along the road when the car was overturned by a flashflood. The mother survived, but her child was found lifeless at the bridge downstream. She died soon after, probably from grief. Even after her death, this unnamed mother continues to search for her infant, appearing in a white gown and carrying a lantern against the dark night.
The other image that appears is that of a mysterious car. It is said to crash off of the bridge. When someone stops to investigate, however, there is no evidence of an accident.
