Old St. Luke's Hospital

Old St. Luke’s Hospital on the corner of Shelby and 10th Streets in Bristol, Tennessee is a privately owned residence whose third floor is said to be haunted by the spirit of a man who committed suicide during the dark days of the Great Depression.
In his book Ghosts of Bristol: Haunting Tales from the Twin Cities, author V. N. “Bud” Phillips records that after the hospital closed in 1925, it became a boarding house. The unnamed ghost, Phillips purposes, is the spirit of one of the tenants who woke others every morning by singing some of the newest songs. The man rented a room on the third floor and after finding no jobs in the Twin Cities, he hanged himself in his room.
Death hasn’t seemed to have stopped his singing, however. Phillips says that if someone on the third floor starts singing a song popular in the 1920s, this spirit will chime in and even finish the song.
