Named after the beautiful Inn that overlooks the Holston River in Kingsport, the road is a place where people would speed incessantly. In 1922 Hugh Hamblin’s son, Charlie, was hit by one of these speeding cars. Upon walking home from the hospital one foggy night, Hugh, himself, was hit by a car. Ever since that day, there are many who report that on foggy mornings, Hugh stands shrouded in the mists waving a light about, warning motorists to slow down. 1, 2, 3, 4
