In the backwoods of Unicoi near the Carter County line, there was a man possessed by the Devil, or so it was believed. Whenever the residents of a small church in the area laid their hands on him one service, it is said that a great spirit rushed from his body and right through the wall of the church. Another story says that the congregation hired a young minister who began incorporating Satanic influences into service until finally, as in another story, the Devil threw the man through the wall.
In June of 2005, the old Chapel was torn down for the bricks. 1
