Exit 28

1. This story also appears on the Strange Paranormal of Upper East Tennessee page.
It is said that a couple's car died going off this exit ramp. When the man got out to push the car up the decline for safety, another car crashed into them. Now, when you pull off to the side of this exit and put your car in neutral, the car will roll up-hill; some say only to the memorial flowers. Others say if you do this long enough, the windows will fog up and hand prints will be found on the car.

Another story tells that a man and woman stopped at the bottom of the ramp one night and the woman was stabbed in the chest by a hobo. The man pushed the car back up the ramp to get help. 1

The actual story is: R. Honeycutt hit the guardrail one night and flipped his car. He was ejected from his seat, and somehow the gas that leaked from the car ignited and there was an explosion.

Exit 28 is actually on the edge of Carter County.
