Fields-Penn House

In her 2004 booklet Haunted Historic Abingdon, Volume 1, author Donnamarie Emmert writes that local legend tells that there are two spirits who haunt this museum. One legend says that when the Fields Family owned it, their dear, elderly “Aunt Jane” died in the house. But after her death, she still would roam the upstairs rooms. Some residence of the town love to tell the tragic story of George and Estelle’s daughter, Leticia, a tragic girl who refused to leave the home, even after her death. She lived in this world sitting in her chair and staring out the window, which her spirit is still believed to do to this day.
