In her 2004 booklet Haunted Historic Abingdon, Volume 1, author Donnamarie Emmert writes that local legend says that two spinster sisters, Minnie and Ethel Baugh, are blamed when things move during the night. Minnie is said to have appeared at least once, but reclusive Ethel is supposed to appear in the upper, right-hand window, watching the world from a chair, as she did in life.
