On Daniel Boone’s first trip to Kentucky, he and his men camped in present-day Abingdon. That night, wolves came out of a cave at the crest of the hill and attacked their dogs. The men successfully fended off the beasts and the area became known as “Wolf Hills.” This cave is now covered by latticework in a shed next to the Cave House. The house was built in 1857 by Adam Hickman, who deeded it to his daughter, Anna, who left it to Anna White and her family after her death.

Employees at 279 East Main Street have reported footsteps and moving furniture on the second floor when no one else is there and smelling dinner cooking.

The brick building on the west side of the house (built by Hickman in 1856) also seems to be haunted. Many sensitive people have picked up ghostly activity, and the chandelier likes to spin around quickly, though there are no drafts in the house. 1, 2
