Valentine Baugh built the house in 1805, but as his family grew, he added on; today, half of the house at 129 West Main Street is used as a business. Only two of Valentine’s daughters, Minnie and Ethel, lived to adulthood, but neither of them married. Local legend tells that both their spirits still reside in the privately owned residence. They are blamed when things move during the night, and Minnie is said to have appeared at least once. But, reclusive Ethel is supposed to appear in the upper, right-hand window, watching the world from a chair, as she did in life. 1
