House on Prospect Avenue

Doctor Jack Heacock, and his wife Eleanor live on the 800 block of Prospect Avenue in Bristol, Virginia. Eleanor reported to Tom Netherland of the Bristol Herald Courier that she believes her mother, Dorothy Douglass Dickey, haunts her house. This presence is not frightening however, making things move, causing strange noises in the house, and even once causing the smell of a baking birthday cake for her daughter. Even her husband, a skeptic, has had an experience or two where he felt a presence. Both Eleanor and her mother were apparently sensitive, and their relationship carries on even today. 1
