Jonesborough is the oldest city in Tennessee and was founded in 1780, 16 years before Tennessee even became a state. The oldest house in the city is the Christopher Taylor House that was built in 1788 and was moved from it’s original spot and restored at 124 West Main Street. The two story log cabin was built by Christopher Taylor, a man sent by North Carolina to help protect locals from Indian attack and supported not only he, his wife and their 13 children, but also the famous lawyer and future president, Andrew Jackson.

Jackson's ghost apparently found the cabin after it was moved, as he has been sighted there numerous times. In fact, Jackson takes it upon himself sometimes to even walk down Main Street in broad day light! Numerous people have reported seeing him across the street, and observe that no one on the side he’s walking on seems to notice him. 1
